Blond Diamond Barbie Makeup
This tutorial shouldn’t even be called Blond Barbie Makeup; it’s really more Phillipe Blond’s makeup. The designer, one half of the duo The Blonds, has a fierce cross-dressing look that the limited edition Barbie’s seems to be based on. If you want to look like this highly sought-after Barbie (dubbed the Drag Queen Barbie by some news outlets), here’s how. This makeup features a dramatic pink and silver smoky eye, some major lashes, and a reddish-pink lip.
Start off by prepping your face with moisturizer so that you’ll have Barbie and Philipe’s dewy skin. Apply concealer to any imperfections and use foundation to even out your skin tone. Because Barbie is made of plastic, her skin is flawless, so give yourself a clean, even canvas.
Both Barbie and Phillipe have perfect arches to their eyebrows. If your eyebrows are thin, color some in with a light-colored eyebrow pencil, but don’t fill them in too much; the brows are meant to make a backseat to the eyes.
Phillipe sculpts some high cheekbones with strategically applied blush, and if you look closely, so does Barbie. Sweep a rosy blush below your cheekbones to make them look higher.
Apply black liquid eyeliner to the inner rims of your upper and lower lash line. Try Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black.
Apply a shimmery pink eye shadow like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Pink Chiffon all over the eyelid, then apply a sparkly silver or light pink shadow from the brow bone to the eyebrow. Apply a sparkly white shadow like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Snow Blossom on the brow bone to where it meets with the nose. Swipe the same white shadow from the inner corner to the middle of the lid. Apply a dark grey shadow like CoverGirl’s Shimmering Onyx in a line from the inner corner of the eye, across the crease, and in the outer corner.
Use the black liquid eyeliner to create a thick line from the inner corner of the eye along the upper lash line, getting wider as you get to the outer corner. Switch to a kohl pencil to line the lower lash line, then smudge it slightly to soften the line. Use a white eyeliner to create a highlighting line parallel to the black line (as in, on top of the black line, just not over the line) from the inner corner of the eye to where the iris ends.
Apply a volumizing black mascara like L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara in Blackest Black to top and bottom lashes. Using tweezers, apply the longest false eyelashes that you can find. With Halloween around the corner, you should be able to find some really lavish, really long lashes. Extra points if you can find some with glitter.
The key to this look is equally attention-grabbing lips. Line lips with a red liner, then fill the lip in with a candy apple red lipstick, like MAC Lipstick in Ladybug. To go more for Phillipe’s look, try a red gloss instead. For a little extra pop, dip your thumb into gold eye shadow and press it to the center of your bottom lip.
Now all you need is a swirl of shiny blonde hair and some giant diamond earrings so that you can be Blond Diamond Barbie. You could also try to score the dress from the 2008 Blonds runway show that inspired the Barbie’s dress, but that might be a bit too extreme. It would make an awesome Halloween costume, though.
