I think we’ve all probably been in a situation where we wanted or needed to grow our hair out. Maybe we thought that pixie would look good, only to find that it didn’t. I’ve had to grow out my short hair for a role in a play before. Whatever the reason, the process sucks, right? There are so many awkward stages!
Well, you can survive it. I know this because I am surviving it right now, and if I can do it, anybody can.
I’m not growing out my hair because I don’t like it short – as a matter of fact, I’ll probably only be able to keep it long for a few months before I cut it all off again. But I’ve had very short hair for about two years now, and I want something new.
When you’re growing your hair out, it feels like every day is something new because it’s often up to chance whether or not you have a good hair day. Suddenly, the way you sleep, the things you eat, and the way you style your hair are more important than ever! The littlest things can really highlight those awkward stages, because if one thing goes wrong, your hair can wind up looking…off.
Right now, my hair is over my ears but not long enough to pull back by any means. I’m aiming for a messy, chin-length bob, and I’m about two months or so away. Waiting is awful. But here’s what I’ve learned to survive in the meantime:
