Preventing Wrinkles

in category of Makeup & Skincare
I’m all about putting off looking any older than I already am, so here are some surprising ways to prevent wrinkles that I read on Yahoo! Health. The first thing that comes into play with wrinkles and aging is smoking. If you are a smoker, you must stop! Did you know that smoking cuts the production of elastin and collagen by up to 40 percent? These premature fine lines may start to appear as early as age 20. I found this fact pretty amazing. If it does this to your outside appearance, imagine what it is doing on the inside. Keep this in mind try and stop smoking today! Try switching from coffee to cocoa. Dietary flavonoids found in cocoa actually keep blood vessels elastic, which raises the nourishing flow to both the skin and internal organs. Women who drank and epicatechin- rich cocoa drink daily have smoother skin that is more resistant to sun damage. Even though it crucial to get plenty of sleep, sleeping on your side or stomach can lead to more wrinkles over time. It is suggested that sleeping on your back can actually prevent sleep lines or even reverse the problem. Over the years, sleeping on your side or belly with your face smashed into the pillow will eventually leave permanent sleep lines. If you are a side sleeper, more wrinkles will appear on the cheeks and chin. If you are a stomach sleeper, more wrinkles will appear in the brow area. Tonight when you go to bed, roll onto your back and try to stay that way throughout your slumber. I always remind people to wear sunscreen every day. UVA rays are a major culprit in wrinkling! Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen every day, even when you are driving. Most age spots are on the left side of the face from driving. UVA rays can easily penetrate car windows, even on cloudy days. Wear your sunscreen every day, even if you driving in your car with the windows up. Tinted windows can help block the damaging UVA rays. It is never too late to start eating the right foods. Did you know that what you eat can make a difference not only in how you feel, but also how you look? Salmon, tuna, mackerel, and other cold water fish are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which actually nourish our skin and help keep it smooth, glowing, and youthful. I am not a lover of fish, so I take a daily supplement of fish oil and krill oil. There is a little debate about which one is better for you, so I take both. Some other foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids are walnuts, flaxseed oil, and canola oil. Another great age-defying food is soy. It has been proven that someone can see a difference in a little as 6 months with the right foods. With all that in mind, remember to eat more fish and soy. Did you know that squinting can also lead to wrinkles? Go get your eyes checked, because if you get reading glasses soon enough, it could help relax the lines that are starting to form around the eyes, the dreaded crow’s feet. Remember to wear sunglasses when you are outside.
