Subtle Makeup Tips for Gorgeous Results
I’m a firm believer than it comes to make up, less is more. I’m not saying you should be afraid of makeup, because almost everyone can benefit from it, and sometimes many girls (and guys) could benefit from a lot more product. However, in terms of any single product, I believe the approach should always be to start out gently and see what works. You can ALWAYS apply more makeup, but removing it can be a pain. Furthermore, I’d rather have someone accuse me of needing more makeup than needing less.
Anyway, subtle makeup, if done right, can be truly wonderful because it can engender a truly radiant look with only half the fuss you’d only usually use. For instance, translucent products on your lips may seem juvenile, but the right products can really make your lips pop. Furthermore, they can make your eyes glow in ways you never even imagined. Reese Witherspoon is especially adept at pulling off this look, and it’s not hard to find a pic or two of her doing so.
On the other hand, you could really let you lips stand out by dressing down the rest of your face. Granted, you don’t want to choose a color like hot pink (ugh), but if you can find a nice coral shade that brings some great attention to your lips while complementing the rest of your make up, you’ll be in a great position to look hot. So stay clear of shimmery foundations, heavy mascara, etc. You can also go even further and make the rest of your ensemble equally as sparse. A neutral dress with minimal accessories can really give those coral lips some new life. They become the centerpiece of your entire look, and you saved tons of prep time by forgetting about the rest.
Lastly, have you ever heard of using bronzer as eye shadow? It might sound wacky, but it can actually be the perfect solution to finding a subtle but gorgeous shade to highlight your eyes. Obviously, if you wouldn’t want to look like you have bronzer anywhere on your skin (the key is to make it look natural, right?), then you should take the same attitude with your eyes. Find a tone that’s warm, not brassy, and close to your normal skin tone. But if you apply just generously enough, your eyes can look super chic and super shimmery, and then you can get loud with your hair outfit!
