Three Skincare Procedures You Can Do at Home

I love talking about skin care. I love practicing it, too. I have extremely acne-prone skin, so I’m always looking for new ways to brighten and clear it. And since I’m a college student, it’s often hard to pamper and baby my skin the way I want to. As a result, I’ve scoured the Internet for easy, do-able skin treatments I can perform anywhere. Here, I’ve compiled a list of easy-to-do skincare treatments you can do almost anywhere. Enjoy!

  1. Steaming - Steaming your face is a wonderful way to open your pores and get more benefits from products. This is a great way to detoxify your face, and any product you have on at the moment will be able to get deeper into your skin. You should always be careful, though, because like any skin treatment, steam can be harsh on some skin types and hot bowls or pans can burn your hands. I suggest letting hot steam cover your face for five to ten minutes to avoid a harsh treatment. Click the above link for a more detailed set of instructions! 2. Microdermabrasion – Oh yes, you can do this at home! I suggest being VERY careful with at-home micro kits, but they can do wonders for your skin! This is basically getting rid of all of the icky, dead skin that covers the surface of you face. The results? A softer, brighter complexion! Check out this link for great at-home kits you can purchase.
  3. Exfoliation – If you’re not ready for the commitment of microdermabrasion, you can always use regular exfoliation. This is simple to do, and very inexpensive! You’re removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, and that will result in softer, brighter skin and quicker cell turnover. Simply take a few teaspoons of sugar and add to honey or plain yogurt. Scrub your face gently for a minute and rinse. Voila!

These skin treatments are easy to do at home and are great for most skin types. If you’re unsure, ask a dermatologist or do a bit more research before committing to anything major. I hope you enjoy these tips and get the best skin you’ve ever had!

Have a wonderful week.
