Your lifestyle, your quirk
I don’t like scary stuff and never did have much of a sweet tooth, even as a kid, so that maybe that’s why Halloween isn’t one of my favorite holidays. However, since I love fashion, I do hate to pass up an opportunity to do something fun or unusual as far as clothes and makeup are concerned. So for that reason, I have been known to indulge in celebrating the day. I don’t have anything special planned at the moment, but I thought I would try out some black lipstick.
Black lipstick, often worn by Goth, punk, Wiccan and other creative types, is once again back in the makeup spotlight. Along with burgundy, nude, and of course dark red, black is one of the hot colors for lips for Fall 2012. The November issue of Allure magazine did a piece in its Beauty Reporter section that includes several brand suggestions and where to buy them, but you should have no problem finding a tube, especially since Halloween just finished up. If you don’t opt for one of the more familiar beauty line brands, you can always go with a tube found specifically for Halloween dress-up.
You may think you don’t have much of a selection for shades since black is usually just black, but there are actually lots of options. For instance, you can go from true dark black to a light gray and everything in between. You can check out the list of suggestions in Allure, but when you hit the makeup counter you will also find all of the shades of black also come in matte, shine, or gloss. There are also shades of black with frosty shimmer effects and glitter mixed in.
Who knows, if black lipstick just happens to be part of your costume, you may find it’s your new signature look and hold onto it long after Halloween.
