Hide the Twinkies! Jillian’s Back!

in category of TV, Audra Rundle, celebrity news

I stopped watching The Biggest Loser in 2010 when Jillian Michaels left, as her tough-love approach with contestants was my favorite aspect of the show, and watching her yell at people somehow inspired me. Upon leaving, Jillian made it pretty clear she was ready to move on, so I didn’t expect to ever see her return. However, she shocked me and millions of others when she made the surprise announcement on The Today Show this week that she’s coming back as a mentor and personal trainer for season 14, beginning in January!Read More »

NBC’s New Series “Dracula”

in category of TV, Ashley Davis

Vampires are everywhere these days. Ever since Twilight was released, everyone has been a little obsessed with the fang-donning creatures. True Blood took vamps to HBO and made them highly sexual. The Vampire Diaries also took vampires to the small screen, albeit in a more innocent way. While it may seem like vampires were just invented these last few years, they’ve actually been around for centuries. The first vampire story was written in the early 1800s. Later on in the century, Dracula himself arrived.Read More »

ANTM Recap: Makeovers!

in category of TV, ANTM, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, recaps

It was makeover day on ANTM, but this model rite of passage had a twist: the girls could choose whether or not they wanted the makeover. They had to decide without knowing what the makeover plan was, but since Tyra chose their looks, they had to know that their makeovers would no doubt help them at panel. Still, two of the girls weren’t using their college brains when they said no to the new ’dos. The two most awkward competitors, Victoria and Maria, declined the new looks.Read More »

2012 MTV Music Awards Recap

in category of TV, Jordan Alexis, recaps

A couple nights ago, we got to see MTV’s annual, much-hyped Video Music Awards. Sure, if you watch MTV you probably saw the commercials where this year’s host, comedian Kevin Hart, tries to become a trio with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (or Kimye, if you will), but how many of you have ever actually seen the nominated videos air on MTV? I, for one, can’t remember the last time I saw an actual music video play on MTV and, frankly, I hadn’t ever seen most of the ones that were being celebrated tonight.Read More »

Steve Burton Announces Departure from General Hospital After 21 Years

in category of TV, gossip, Melissa DeLara, soaps, tv

It’s like when your boyfriend tells you, “It’s not you, it’s me.” General Hospital fans are reeling from being “dumped” by Steve Burton, who has portrayed Jason Morgan (Quartermaine) on the ABC daytime soap opera since 1991. Through the years, we have watched Jason handle life, love, and loss. Now we are left with one question: “How can we say goodbye?”Read More »

America's Next Top Model Recap

in category of TV, ANTM, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, recap

This season has brought a bunch of changes to freshen up the tired series (now in its 19th cycle), not all of which were explained in the first episode. Maybe it’s because I’m a visual learner, but the scoring system finally made sense once it was put into use. Each model is given a score out of ten for the challenge, for the fans’ responses through social media, and from each of the judges on the weekly photo. The judges’ scores still count for more than the challenge or fan votes (since they add up to 30).Read More »

Bye, Bye Jersey Shore!

in category of TV, Abby Lee Hood

What might have been the most controversial reality show ever to grace MTV’s network, or even television in general, is coming to an end after the upcoming season. That’s right, Jersey Shore is airing its final season! The juiceheads are going home, Snooki’s reproduced, and the Shore is generally emptying out. Here’s a quick look at what’s happened and why the show is ending.Read More »

Is Katie Too Late?

in category of TV, Abby Lee Hood, TV shows

Mass communication is quickly becoming more and more dependent on the Internet. We now create our own media through sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Blogger, and are no longer obligated to the bias that news channels may hold sometimes. That being said, there are still hundreds of news programs on television, and people watch them every day. That’s great for people who don’t like or don’t have access to the Internet, but for the rest of the population, much of the headline news consumption is from sites like Yahoo, The Daily Beast, CNN’s website, and more.Read More »

Last night was the highly-anticipated Pretty Little Liars summer finale, and boy did it live up to all the hype. All season we’ve been seeing commercials proclaiming that someone would commit the ultimate “betrAyal” by the end of the season, and the finale totally delivered some shockers!Read More »

America’s Next Top Model Recap

in category of TV, ANTM, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, recaps

Cycle 19 brings a lot of changes to this aging reality competition. Nearly all of the judges have been replaced, the prizes and prize sponsors have changed, fan involvement has (confusingly) increased, and the show has a new theme. This season, we finally have another set of fresh girls. There’s no recycled contestants from past seasons or international spin-offs; this year features beautiful college students. In the past, it seemed like a big deal if a contestant left her education to compete, like Jane from Cycle 15 who studied at Princeton. This year, it was a requirement.Read More »
