Your lifestyle, your quirk
One of the hottest trends for fall 2012 handbags is the structured handbag. I have always been a big fan of this trend and am currently plotting to add one of these fabulous handbags to my collection. This is actually turning out to be a bit of a project because there are just too many fabulous options. Every time I see one I like, another one gets my attention.
I especially love the look of these purses when they are oversized and have eye-catching embellishments and details. One of the reasons this style is a favorite of mine is that most of these handbags have short handles that you have to hold onto. It’s possible to find bags with longer straps that can be attached at will, but to me the short straps are what make this bag so much fun to carry.
I think this feature just adds to the whole charm of this purse; it forces you to have a ladylike vibe when it’s on the crook of your arm or daintily held in your hand. If you have to be hands-free you may want to skip this style, but if you want to add a real retro vibe to your wardrobe, this is a go-to item.
One big plus for everyone is these structured handbags fit in perfectly with several of the trends going on, especially the ladylike and retro looks. I also like the fact that these bags can be carried long after the novelty wears off. Structured handbags are considered a classic so if you choose carefully you can carry your bag for years to come.
Many of these handbags are designed to look similar to recognized high-end and high-priced “it handbags.” If you do actually splurge on one, don’t feel too guilty; in addition to the styles being timeless, they also usually hold up well. Don’t worry too much if you’re lusting after a handbag that’s normally out of your price range; you can easily find an affordable one to soothe your soul.
This is also one of the trends you can do some fashion multitasking with. Every color and textile trend is being translated into these gorgeous handbags. You have your choice of bright colors in leather, luxury textiles like reptile and pony hair. Leopard print or wine are two of my suggestions, but choosing basic black or brown leather or a fabric in a simple design always works. You can opt for lots of hardware and findings or go classic with simple buckles and closures. I have no doubt after taking a look at some of these handbags, you will want to add a little structure to your life.
