Another Slice of Style
Several hot trends in clothes, shoes, and accessories for fall are crossovers from this summer, and one of the trends in footwear that is taking another spin on the catwalk for fall 2012 is the wedge heel shoe.
The wedge heel is my favorite type of shoe, no matter what time of year, so I am welcoming this trend back with open arms. It
may not be your favorite, but from the looks of things, I am hardly the only one who loves this shoe. I can’t open a magazine without seeing at least one pair I would have no problem making room for in my closet. If you thought this shoe was hot this summer, just take a look at what is coming down the catwalk.
That this shoe refuses to leave the fashion scene is good news if you added it to your collection over the summer. You can still wear most summer styles while the weather is nice, and just add cool socks and hosiery when the temperature goes down a bit more.
If you’re a wedge heel fan like me, it’s going to be difficult making your selection, so be prepared to make some hard choices or carry a lot of bags. In addition to simply being a comfortable shoe to wear, the wedge heel shoe works perfectly with just about every hot trend, past or present, that is going on in fashion.
From the ladylike look to the cool ’70s to the menswear look, this shoe just works. The options are endless: the textiles range from fun fabrics to gorgeous high-end leather and exotic skins. Even in simple black leather, this shoe is cool and works with everything, but you also have your choice of bright, pale, and basic shades of practically every color of the rainbow.
If you were not a wedge fan before, you just might find yourself newly addicted. High heel-loving fashionistas will have all of the height they want, and gals like me, who often have to pass on heels, will have the comfort and ease rolled into one fabulous shoe.
What I think is the cherry on top of this trend is that every style of shoe is available in this heel. You name it, someone’s got it: Mary Janes, pumps, boots, and even sneakers are available. Several styles have interesting closures like buckles, straps, laces, and zippers, but even in a straight-up pump, this shoe is another slice of style.
