Are Combat Boots Still In?
A reader recently asked me if combat boots are still in. I’ve got news for you guys – in this day and age of hipster trends, celebrities virtually swimming in vintage garb, and the most diverse collections ever to hit the market, anything is in. It’s all in how you wear it. Even the hottest piece of fashion can look drab on the wrong person, solely due to their effort and/or mistakes. Combat boots are a great way to illustrate this rule, because while many people might scoff at the thought of donning these blasts from the past, I’m here to tell you all that I’ll have the last laugh.
For instance, say you get a pair of extra-high combat boots. You can easily achieve a glam look with these by folding down the boots halfway, and combining them with a patterned scarf and/or brown belt. Make sure the rest of your ensemble is black (matching the boots). If your ensemble is as sleek as your combat boots are rugged, you can rest assured that you’ll look hot as hell. To top it off, keep your hair tamed a la Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. On the other hand, you can go fun and fancy free with combat boots too! You can even combine them with a floral summer dress by simply covering them up with a pair of legwarmers.
Granted, you’ll have to time this right, as legwarmers over combat boots with a summer dress are kind of an oxymoron, but for the right fall or spring moment, this look could be both sexy and comfortable, without much of a financial sacrifice! This look would especially look great if you’ve got a pixie cut! For a casual (but still quite sophisticated) look, match your combat boots with denim. You can’t go wrong with a pair of skinny jeans that won’t ruffle up in your boots.
Let your combat boots fly as high as they’d like, and choose a shirt that’s equally as free. A flowing top that falls below the shoulder on one side (or really anything oversized) with some fabulous bling would be a fierce look appropriate for any kind of social event, whether you’re hitting the club or going out to dinner with family. In terms of hair, you guessed it – let it flow freely! Don’t be afraid of windswept bangs and a messy look for this ensemble.
