Avoiding a Summer Chill

It may be hotter than you-know-where outside, but this time of year it’s often cold inside. I am grateful for air conditioning when the temperature rises, but often the change in temperature throws a definite monkey wrench into a fashionista’s fabulous outfit. Hot as it may be outside, believe it or not, odds are you are going to need a little something-something when you get inside.

If you work indoors, you probably have air conditioning. It feels good at first, but it can get pretty chilly after a while. I have been in some offices that are just plain cold. I used to feel sorry for the office manager and the maintenance folks, because you can’t please everyone and cold usually wins in the tug of war to regulate the temperature in an office.

As a result, it’s even a good idea for to keep a sweater in your drawer at work. I usually kept a stash and I was happy to loan them out to whoever needed one, but I used the “ladies first” rule.

You can opt for a pretty shawl, pashmina, or oversized scarf, but something with arms is usually your best bet so you can function better. If you’re on a tight budget, a lightweight cashmere sweater will keep you comfy, but your best bet is cotton.

One brand to check out for a pretty summer sweater options is Acrobat. You can find this brand on several sites like Shopforclothes and ShopStyle. There isn’t anything special about these sweaters, but that’s the attraction; they basics, pretty and easy to work into your wardrobe. The main attraction of these sweaters is they are cotton. They let you breathe, but also keep the icy winds of the air conditioner off your shoulders.

Take note, that if you’re a tiny cardigan kind of gal, you might not like this brand. A big plus is in addition to the fiber content is that they are lightweight and cut a bit longer and fuller than a traditional sweater. They aren’t exactly oversized, but these sweaters will keep you comfortable in the cool air conditioning by draping nicely on your body, and won’t make you sweat if you’re outside in the heat.

You have many style options with this brand. Most of them are basic, but some also have interesting embellishments and accents like fringes, hoods, and asymmetrical cuts. What is also nice is these sweaters look good over bare tanks or sundresses, so they can stretch your summer wardrobe by allowing you to wear certain clothes to work that might be inappropriate on their own. A sweet but sexy dress instantly becomes a summer sweater and skirt You should also check out the other styles in this line, like short sleeved polos, as they will be prefect when it’s time to transition into fall.
