Your lifestyle, your quirk
Even if you’re not really into fashion or consider yourself a fashionista, what you wear usually says a little something about your personality. This can be conscious or unconscious; most people like to stay true to themselves, but sometimes it’s fun to dress in a way is different. One of the more popular fall trends is the ladylike look, so I thought it might be fun to combine it with another one of this season’s popular trends: black leather.
When the seasons change and you’re revamping and updating your wardrobe, it can be a perfect time to try on some new looks. What we wear can really be a part of us and get comfortable, but it’s possible you may have been dying to try something out or just haven’t had the opportunity. If you have never tried the ladylike look on for size, now might be a perfect time…or if your ladylike look is normally done with wool and other fabric textiles, why not try a slightly different look by using black leather garments and accessories?
There is also a bit of a retro salute going on in fashion as far as black leather is concerned, but this isn’t the same exact look that was popular in eras like the ’60s and the ’80s. The “bad girl” of 2012 is wearing black leather and it’s still sexy, but it’s more subtle. You won’t have to do a complete overhaul on your wardrobe or your personality. This idea can also be used if you normally sport a menswear, preppy, or bohemian look.
Simply adding a few key fall pieces in black leather will do the trick, and odds are you may already have them in your closet. You can use a black leather dress, skirt, or blouse, but if a leather garment doesn’t fit into your budget or work in your everyday wardrobe, try adding shoes, like a pair of very feminine black leather pumps, and consider black leather gloves or a wide, corset-like belt. Here are a few outfit ideas:
1. Wear a black leather dress with ladylike accessories, like pearls or faux fur.
2. Try a black leather skirt paired with a pretty a ladylike cashmere twinset.
3. Cinch a wool jacket or blouse with an ultra-feminine belt.
4. Add ultra-feminine heels in black leather to just about any outfit, even jeans.
