The ultra-feminine ladylike look is definitely on deck as a hot trend for fall, but so is the menswear influence. There is going to be a whole lot of borrowing going on as far as what’s hot for clothing and accessories for fall 2012. How you achieve this hot fashion look is all up to you. One word to the wise, if you decide to literally borrow from your favorite guy, do so your own risk. Now that men are getting to be more fashion-conscious, your dude might not give up his goods so easily this year.

This accessory trend is one of my favorites. I have been wearing men’s watches for years, so I think it’s very cool to see this being done by other women in fashion magazines and on the streets. I always opt for an actual men’s watch, but there are watches specifically made for women that simply resemble a man’s watch.

I don’t remember when or why I started. I like the idea that men’s watches are often less ornate and simple. I will confess it’s out of convenience too. The face is often more easy to read since it’s usually larger than a woman’s watch. I always think of my watch as an oversized, eye-catching bangle or bracelet that just also happens to tell time. How is that for some fashion multitasking?

A man’s watch obviously looks great with the menswear trend, but I think it’s also fun to wear it with an outfit that is obviously feminine. But what’s really nice is this is an easy, inexpensive, and quite sensible way to bring your existing wardrobe current with one of the hot fashion trends for fall 2012

Most labels and designers have added the oversized watch to their women’s collections, or you can simply purchase a traditional men’s watch. The color and style is entirely up to you. I usually go with a gold or silver tone to carry the feeling of jewelry, but a cool black or brown leather strap would also be a great choice.

You may be tempted to borrow this timely fashion accessory from an unsuspecting male in your life, but it’ s such a cool look and so practical, you may want to get your very own.
