Bump it Up
If you don’t have an endless budget, it takes a lot of self-control to keep from over-indulging in all the new trends, but don’t despair. You can still work some of the hot new trends without much effort or money. Every good fashionista knows that accessories and shoes can change the look of an outfit, but there are also some other tricks you can use.
One way to instantly update or change the look of your outfit is with your hair and makeup choices. If you're like me and don’t
wear a lot of makeup, opt for different hairstyles that have a definite retro look.
There are several hairstyles that channel certain eras, and one of the hottest ones we are seeing everywhere is the bump.
I am sure it goes by other names, but if you’re not sure what I am talking about, Adele and Amy Winehouse are perfect examples. Amy’s was a bit extreme, but you can’t get any more retro than that. The bump hairstyle has a definite ’60s vibe, but it also looks nice with other fashion eras. It can transform your contemporary clothes into cool retro looks, or just complement whatever happens to be your favorite style of dress.
I love the look of this hairstyle, and although I am not sure if I want to give up the ease of my curly fro to try it out, I know by seeing it on the array of runway models and on different celebrity fashionistas that it can be done. Who knows, maybe I will come up with some interesting versions for myself. There are variations of this style that you can have a lot of fun with, like wearing all of your hair up, just half, or incorporated with a ponytail.
What I also like is this hairstyle looks fabulous alone or with interesting hair accessories. To take this already glamorous hairstyles up a few notches just add a simple headband, barrettes, or a pretty scarf.
Speaking of taking time on this ’do, it may be a little tricky at first, but remember, the messy, carefree
look is also a look we are seeing, so there are no rules. But if you need a little help, check out some tips around the Internet.
