Chilly Days and Nights?
Now that you have tackled the task of choosing fall clothes, shoes, and accessories to create some cool weather outfits, you may now be faced with the question, “How do I keep my legs warm?” and more importantly, “How do I do it stylishly?” Black hosiery is always a good option; in fact, black hosiery, no matter what density, is always a good choice, but you might want to try something different. One very easy alternative is white.
Not only is white hosiery an safe and easy alternative option to black or bright colors, wearing white hosiery can be considered right on time for several of the hot trends going on in fashion. If you’re a fan of retro, white tights have a definite ’60s vibe to them, or they can be worn to help channel the ladylike look.
White tights can also be considered retro because wearing them as an adult can be a trip back in time. I vividly remember wearing white tights with
my Sunday best, dressed up for holidays, or just off to school. This look does nod to the little girl in us, but it’s a look that is all grown up; even big girls need to keep their legs warm.
For you fashion rebels who wear white after Labor Day, a pair of white tights may be an obvious choice if you’re wearing winter white, but don’t stop there (unless it really looks odd). Try wearing white hosiery instead of any other color you might normally consider. White tights are also a way to take your warm weather clothes just a little further along so you can get some more wear out of them.
An easy outfit idea that always works would be a black dress, white tights and black shoes, any color or material for a dress will do, or try a version of this with a mini skirt or winter shorts and a pair of over the knee boots.
If you’re feeling a bit more daring, try wearing a pair of white ankle socks or thigh-highs alone or over a pair of colored hose. This is a surefire way to draw attention to a pair of great legs and some of this season’s cool shoes and boots.
Let your imagination run wild and have fun with this trend. You also don’t have to stick to stark white hosiery; try lace, a cream, or a winter white to get the same effect.
