D&G Takes a Final Bow
Dolce and Gabbana fans who were partial to the D&G line, here is a tissue and a virtual hug from me. It’s true: Dolce and Gabbana is shutting down its little sister line D&G after spring 2012.

Dolce and Gabbana will still be sending their signature sexy and stylish looks down the runway with the same signature price tags. I took a look at some of the prices for the D&G line and they were still pretty high, but that’s just me. So, my fellow fashionistas, if you’re a fan of this line, dry your eyes, raise your chin, and hit the stores and get them while they are hot, here, and (with a little luck) on sale. If I were a big fan, I might skip the sales in order to have the pick of the litter; after all, this might be a last chance situation. You may be left to troll eBay and pay even more.
I won’t be shedding a tear or knocking anyone over to score one of these very pretty bags, but it is always sad to see someone and something leave the fashion streets. But if this was a favorite of yours, I suggest you get out there and add to your handbag collection. Like I said, they aren’t my cup of tea, but I can see you telling stories to a little fashionista about these bags and some of your adventures while carrying them. Any one of these bags will be perfect to hand down or pull out years from now. And as far as carrying them, they all fit in perfectly with what’s going on in fashion and they obviously will work with what Dolce and Gabbana is currently offering in their other line.
Back in September, Style.com reported the D&G show was the last of its kind and the designers plan to integrate this collection into their signature line. At the risk of sounding insensitive, I will admit I am glad it’s not one of my personal favorites. But even if you’re not a die-hard fan, these bags will work perfectly for what’s going on in the fashion world, even if you step outside of the world of Dolce and Gabbana. The colors are right on time for practically any trend we are seeing, and the quilted fabrications and chain detailing offer a retro and modern vibe.
And while you’re out there adding to your handbag collection, don’t forget to check out the shoes, too – really. In addition to adding to your collection for the sake of posterity, you will be able to carry on the look and feeling of this line with a few shoe and handbag combos. You can simply pair your handbag and shoe duo with a simple tee and jeans, and the memory of this line will go on.
