Your lifestyle, your quirk
I have been noticing a shoe type in the magazines that is not quite a bootie, but is a little bit more than a sandal. These shoes don’t qualify for bootie or shootie status, since the heel, toes, and some of the foot are exposed. So far I haven’t come across an official name, so I will just refer to this shoe as the fall sandal.
What I am talking about are “sandals” that have very wide straps that cover more of the foot than traditional sandals, and may also go up to and over the ankle.
When shoes with cutouts start covering up the foot more and more, it’s usually a nod to the change in seasons.
What is very cool is whether it was planned or not, this shoe is perfect, and works like a charm for the type of weather we have been having.
Normally I don’t like to reveal my toes, so it may be a bit odd that I like this shoe or fall sandal. It’s a fun shoe because it gives us fashionistas who are overly anxious for fall an alternative to wearing booties. There is a little boot influence on fall sandals, but not enough to be uncomfortable while it’s still warm.
Don’t write this shoe off thinking you can’t wear it when the temperature really starts to drop. Most of these shoes have enough coverage for your foot unless the temperature really plummets (or if it snows). These fall sandals will look fabulous when it gets cooler when they are worn with cute ankle socks and interesting stockings.
If you didn’t get your fill or skipped sandals this summer, you should definitely check out a pair of these fall sandals and consider adding some to your wardrobe. They will look adorable with jeans and all of the various lengths for skirts and dresses.
When considering a pair, you want to look for darker textiles, wide bands of leather, or simply lots and lots of straps. Try a pretty gray, snakeskin, or a metallic to change things up from the usual brown and black. Another suggestion is to go with a thicker, chunky heel, but any type of heel will carry this trend just fine. The best part is these fall sandals are just as fabulous as what we saw for summer, so if you had to limit your shopping during the summer, now is your second chance for a killer pair of sandals.
