Dude, Retro Shoes!

Men and women who are into fashion know that an outfit is not complete without the right pair of shoes. When I say right pair of shoes, I don’t mean brand or price-wise, I mean shoe style. You guys don’t have as many fabulous shoe options as we do and I apologize, but you do have them as far as what’s appropriate and comfortable for the different seasons.

Even if you’re not into fashion, I am sure you will be swapping out your cold weather kicks for something more comfortable, giving your feet a chance to breathe a bit. Oxfords and loafers in lighter colors and fabrics are perfect, but you may want to go one step further. In case you’re not an open shoe kind of guy, check out a cool pair of Rivieras.

This French brand offers a line of men’s shoes that are perfect for the summer heat. The shoes are a cool-looking men’s slip-on constructed from warm weather-friendly fabrics like canvas and cotton. The company website describes the shoe as “a hybrid piece that combines the structure of a carefully crafted shoe, yet the relaxed ease and comfort of a trainer.” This shoe would be a perfect option for a casual summer day. In addition to working well with most of the trends we are seeing, especially the retro looks, you will have no problem finding a style that fits both your wardrobe and tastes. Obviously I haven’t tried a pair on and probably won’t, but I went to the site and could not help but giggle as what seemed like an endless selection of colors and styles downloaded onto their main page. 

The shoes are a bit pricey and will probably appeal to the more fashion-conscious guy, but they could easily be considered an investment purchase for your shoe wardrobe. You may not want to wear them too far into fall, but for quality purposes, you should be able to wear them next year. The “European chic” type of retro look is usually timeless for both sexes, and the site states that “each pair is crafted with notably high quality materials, featuring a soft towel interior lining and a cushioned nappa leather inner sole.” They go on to say, “The outer sole has the durability of a hard wearing shoe, with a heel rarely seen on footwear of this sort.”
