One of the best ways to learn about fashion and beauty is by watching the pros online. Plenty of girls (and guys!) upload makeup, outfit, and hairstyling tutorials every day. That’s precisely how I learned to do my hair and makeup, and where I get a lot of my fashion inspiration. It’s a free, efficient way to learn. Thanks to the beauty blogging culture, it’s natural that some girls become famous and well-liked. We all have our favorites, and I’d like to mention one of my own.

Dulce Candy is an amazing beauty blogger and person; I like her for multiple reasons. Recently, she released an interview-type video with HaulerDeals, an affiliate of hers, where she talks about her life and what inspired her to become a blogger. What she says in the video always reminds me of what I love most about her, and why she’s so cool.

Dulce grew up in a middle class family, so she didn’t have a lot of money. As soon as she graduated high school, she did something unexpected: she joined the military. Nobody expects a “girly girl” to join the armed forces, but Dulce did voluntarily, because she “wanted to get away.” In the HaulerDeals video, she talks about reading beauty magazines while she was in the military, and about wearing her uniform constantly. The girl even did a tour of duty in Iraq! She talks about her fashion sense really starting to develop then, surprisingly enough. Dulce speaks about her desire to be more feminine and to express herself, and as they say, the rest is history.

Now, Dulce Candy is one of the most popular bloggers on the web: she’s got thousands of followers, a popular YouTube channel, a website, and a small clothing line of her own. She posts pretty regularly, but can also be counted on to feature lifestyle pieces: she posts a lot of DIYs, mentions all of her traveling adventures, and talks about her family life quite a bit.

Dulce’s sense of style is really classic with eccentricities mixed in. She’s got a girly side, an edgy side, and an artsy side. I like that she’s appealing all across the board! I admire her both as a fashion expert and as a blogger. Because of her middle class background, she finds cute ways to mix high and low-end pieces; you’ll find her featuring pieces from Forever21 quite a lot.
