A Fall Fashion Explosion

Most likely I will be singing another tune in a few months, but lately I find myself thinking, “Bring on the cooler weather!” It’s not time just yet for wearing jackets on a regular basis, but it is definitely time to shop. One trendy option for outerwear that is gracing the pages of magazines is the bomber jacket.

There is a big menswear trend going on in fashion for both sexes, and a lot of clothes are actually becoming unisex. The bomber jacket is usually considered to be a guy’s jacket, but much to my surprise, this season the bomber jacket is a hot fashion trend for both men and women. It’s not my style, but one major cool point for this item is that the options for working this trend are endless, and most of them are quite stylish.

Bomber jackets can also be considered part of the retro love affair we are having in fashion. They’ve been around for years, and they are hot right now. I can’t deny bomber jackets are adorable and perfect for showing off this season’s winter shorts, skirts, and interesting detailed pants. Bomber jackets are also a perfect way to draw attention to this season’s cool boots, shoes, and hosiery.

I do like this style of jacket, but no matter what comes down the runway and how cool it is, I pass on this style each year – my practical side won’t allow me to partake. One thing I find a too limiting about this style is that bomber jackets tend to be too much on the casual side, and it’s not the most practical choice, especially when it’s worn with dresses and skirts.

But that’s just me. This probably isn’t an issue for men, and if you ladies are fans of shorter coats, I say go for it, since you’re in luck this year.

When we get deeper into the cooler weather season, a traditional bomber jacket would be a perfect choice – one with a fur or shearling lining that can be removed would an interesting contrast with dark fabric, leather, or suede. Or try something different and check out one of the non-traditional styles, like bright colors and prints in fabrics and other textiles. Be sure to check out all of your options, including oversized styles and the newer cropped version of the bomber jacket.
