From Film to Fashion

It’s not just female actors who are being tapped by clothing lines and fashion designers to be the face of their brand. Actor Ewan McGregor recently joined the ranks of famous actors who now model. The actor can be seen in several current issues of fashion magazines including the September issue of ESQUIRE modeling for the English label Belstaff.

Belstaff, if you’re not familiar with the brand, was founded in 1924. This English brand is best known for its motorcycle gear and being the first company to use waxed cotton. This high-end line carries clothing, shoes, and accessories for men and women that are quite luxurious-looking. You can read more here.

If you keep up with celebrities and/or fashion, you will know McGregor isn’t the first male to don designer duds. Back in January, Prada used Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, and Willem Dafoe not only in print, but also on the runway. It defiantly gives the brand an interesting and familiar image for people to remember, and perhaps even relate to. Most often there is something about the actor that makes the pairing a perfect fit. I am sure it comes in handy to have an actor as a model, now that lots of labels and designers are adding mini movies to their sites and other advertising. Belstaff included one on their site starring, of course, Ewan McGregor.

New and old fans of McGregor will definitely appreciate the photos for the sake of fashion…or just for the actor himself. He looks natural in the clothes; the ads, some of which are black and white, are cool-looking and well-done. I have seen several of his movies and never really associated the actor with fashion, but it seems to work. The clothes all suit him. What I found to be very interesting is that the company has deep roots in motorcycle accessories and clothing, and McGregor is an avid cycle fan. It makes sense that the actor was definitely in his element for the most part and makes a perfect fit.

I don’t own anything from the brand, but I would not mind a piece, as several caught my eye. All of Belstaff’s merchandise, for both men and women,
 is gorgeous, high-end quality, but with price tags to match. If it’s in your budget, Balstaff would be a perfect fashion source for what’s going on in fashion. If I could swing it, I would feel comfortable considering any purchase an investment, as most pieces have a classic vibe and could be worn for years.
