Flowers for Your Dad? Yep!

Flowers work for like a charm for Mother’s Day, and believe it or not, they can work just as well for Father’s Day; all you need is a bit of imagination and inspiration from the fashion world. It’s possible that your dad might love to receive a fresh bouquet of his favorite flowers for Father’s Day, but just in case that isn’t his cup of tea, why not give him the next best thing: something with a floral print.

Flowers and floral prints are still a very hot trend in fashion for spring/summer 2012, so giving dad something with a floral print would be perfect, unless he is not a fan of flora. If you’re going to give a bouquet of flowers, it’s a no-brainer, just pick out his favorite and you’re all set. But picking out something floral that your dad would wear is another story, and it may be a little tricky, but it’s totally doable. All you need to do is choose the item and just add flowers.

A floral printed garment is probably the easiest way to pull this off. A cool floral short-sleeved shirt is a perfect choice, especially if your dad is off to a summer getaway vacation even just for a weekend. One tip to make a floral shirt more “father friendly” is to pick a print with a dark background like black or navy. If you need to ease him into it, you could create a cool outfit for him and add a pair of khaki pants, shorts, or a stylish pair of jeans. This is also a sly diabolical way to give a little helping hand if your dad is” fashion challenged.” Even if he isn’t David Beckham, a floral shirt just works in the summer even it’s for the sake of being kitschy.

Another idea is a floral tie. You might want to stick with a traditional tie, but if your dad is into fashion or is a fan of bow ties, try a jaunty bow tie and maybe toss in a fun pair of socks to jazz up his wardrobe. And speaking of feet, footwear is another option for something floral. A pair of flip-flops would probably be a hit for the beach, or a younger dad might like a pair of funky floral sneakers. A few other fashionable ideas are a pair of floral swimming trunks, a sporty backpack or satchel. Worst-case scenario is a good laugh, but who knows, your dad just might surprise you and jump right into the floral trend.
