Get Hooked Up Every Month
For those of you guys who think the gals always get the entire cool stuff, this one’s for you. The 12 Society, according to its site, is a style board that handpicks the best products for you every month and sends them to you for a flat fee.
The co-founders are Nasir Jones (you might know him as hip-hop legend Nas) and Sameer Mehta, a 2009 graduate of Carnegie Mellon. Nas says on the company’s website: “I’ve been blessed to lead a lifestyle that allows me to experience the pinnacle of creation and innovation, and I have always wanted a way to share this with the people that I love. That’s why I’m teaming up with some of my favorite athletes, entertainers, musicians and thought-leaders to start 12Society.”
I am not really familiar with all of the members of the style board, but it seems like an interesting, eclectic mix of personalities. The 12 Society’s style board is made up of basketball’s Blake Griffin, baseball’s Tim Lincecum, celebrity Nick Cannon, athlete Kevin Love, football’s Michael Strahan, and Nas. You can read more here or on the site.
If I were a guy, I might sign up, and I think this would make a great gift idea; it would be perfect to keep up with the latest hot products, but especially for those who find themselves too busy or just always out of the loop.
To quote the site, “Our celebrity style board will give you an inside look into the latest trends in tech, fashion, popular culture, and athletics that are impacting and improving our lives.”
The monthly fee of $39 seems very reasonable. I think the rules are fair and it seems relatively easy to sign up and start getting the goods, which are valued by the site at $125+. According to the site, each month you will receive between four and six premium products from tech, athletics, fashion, and apparel.
I think this is a clever idea; The 12 Society seems like a very cool and convenient way to try out products you already know you will like, or simply get the opportunity to learn about. In other words, just like they say on their site, “we’re here to hook you up.”
