Your lifestyle, your quirk
Accessories have been riding the front of the fashion train for women for the past couple of seasons, and it’s so cool you guys are starting to jump on board and ride along. As the seasons go by, both designers and men themselves are paying closer attention to their clothes, shoes, and accessories. It may sound harsh, but to me it seems like more and more men are actually getting into shopping and building stylish wardrobes and outfits, rather than just making sure that their clothes are clean.
Even if you prefer to manage your guy’s wardrobe, it’s not as risky as it used to be to leave him to his own devices when getting dressed. It’s safe to say that even males who are not completely into fashion are putting together outfits and actually becoming quite good at it. It used to be the female’s job to keep her guy in fashion check, and some still do, but for couples it’s now becoming more of a united effort.
I would not trade being the fairer sex for anything. We have way more options for fashion, but I personally like the fact that guys have become more concerned with what’s current in fashion and how they look. I admit I don’t mind if I get more attention than my mate, but its fun to both be dressed up, and after, all it’s only fair to have the choice.
Several men’s accessories that may have been considered too formal or even too feminine are beginning to be worn by more males on a daily basis. Brightly colored and decorative scarves are a perfect example. We gals have known for years that accessories can complete, create, or totally change the look of an outfit, and you guys are catching on pretty quick. There are several things going on in the media, like the remake of The Great Gatsby and celebrities like Johnny Depp and David Beckham that are also giving you guys a bit of fashion inspiration. The whole retro vibe that is going on in the fashion world also helps.
They aren’t new, but some of the accessories coming out of the closet, drawers, and even the attic may be be getting a first run or simply being worn more often for males. You may want to wait for the temperature to go down a bit more to break out some of them, but several can be worn right now. You can wait for the movie, but I suggest you do a little research of your own; just open any magazine , research fashion eras like the ’20s, check out retailers like Brooks Brothers, or ask your nearest female fashionista.
Some of the accessories to keep an eye out for are:
1. Gloves for keeping warm or just for show, like driving gloves, will be nice touches for both men and women.
2. Cuff links are taking the place of buttons on a lot of more casual name shirt makers this year.
3. Pocket squares and handkerchiefs are now for showing and for blowing.
4. Tie clips and interesting watches are also cool extras, sort of jewelry for guys.
5. Vests are hot items to wear with or without a suit.
6. Hats of all walks of life, newsboy caps, and fedoras are especially hot, and don’t forget that faux fur is coming down the pike.
