A Hair-Raising Handbag

I love handbags, so I am always on alert for the latest “it bag,” a fabulously over-the-top handbag has been known to leave me weak in the knees. That is exactly how I felt when I came across one of Louis Vuitton’ s latest creations. I haven’t found its official name yet, if it even has one. But it may not even matter, because I am practically speechless.

I knew that faux fur handbags were on deck to be hot items for the coming season and have seen some pretty fabulous ones, but this one takes the handbag cake. In case you haven’t seen this bag yet, I feel the need to give a heads-up with a little warning. If you don’t like fur, move on to the next trend, but if you do, hold onto yourself – it could be dangerous. This bag is a triple threat for me as far as being a favorite. It’s a framed handbag, it’s fur, and it’s definitely outrageous.

The bag comes in several colors and combinations, but my favorite is a honey-colored bag with long, straight “hair.” It’s hardly a high fashion reference, but if you remember Cousin It from The Addams Family, that visual is what instantly comes to my mind. If you’re not familiar, you can check Cousin It out here and see what I mean.

It may seem like I have no love for this bag using the visual I do, but that isn’t the case. The cousin Itt reference actually makes the bag all the more fun, at least to me. Even the two blingy buckles remind me of Cousin Itt’s dark glasses. This bag is definitely not for everyone, but so far I have seen a healthy mix of yays and nays. You can’t deny it’s working several hot trends and has the practicality of a simple roomy tote. The price tag will keep it out of my closet, but I can’t wait to see what this bag does to inspire the creativity behind more affordable versions.

The fur factor may have some bearing on the how well this bag is received. I can already envision this bag on the arm of several of the more daring celebrity fashionistas. Lady Gaga pops into my mind.

I probably won’t own one, but for me this bag not only qualifies as an “it bag,” it this takes the term “it bag” to a whole new level.
