Hanging Round
I think oversized statement handbags are here to stay, but for now another smaller bag is getting a bit of attention in the fashion world. If you’re looking to add another handbag to your collection, consider one of Fall 2012’s round shoulder bags.
I will be an oversized handbag junkie until the end. Most days, I always manage to find just one more thing I just might need to carry with me during the day, but every now and then I am able to pare things down. I haven’t decided just yet, but I could see myself with one of these bags in my possession.
I am not exactly sure where to put these bags as far as Fall 2012’s fashion trends go. It’s not so much that it’s not clear, but this round handbag
style could fit into just about any one of them. The deciding factor could be the hardware, textiles, and/or colors being used for the handbag.
For instance, these bags have a bit of retro ’70s and ’80s flavors because of the straps. They are a little reminiscent of the “disco bags” worn when folks went out dancing. They also have a bit of a boho hippie vibe if they are done in suede and leather with fringe. I may be reaching a bit, but I also think these round bags have a slight military and western vibe because they are shaped like canteens.
Even I have to admit the size is close to perfect; there is room for a good-sized wallet, keys, a small makeup bag, and of course your phone. If you travel lightly, you may also be able to fit a few other random items you can’t be without in there, too.
I am also a big fan of ladylike handheld bags, but the fact these bag are almost always hands free because of the strap is a major plus and very tempting. Add that to the possibility of being able to work just about any trend or come up with one of your own makes it tempting. Just like all of the cool oversized handbags, there is an abundance of choices for this handbag style that will work for casual and dressy looks, both day and night.
Now, don’t let the size fool you; despite their size, some of these bags are just as pricey as larger-sized handbags. Since I am biased, I could easily argue all day how this isn’t fair, but smaller handbag lovers could counter every point I make…and there definitely are bargains out there.
