His and Fur
It may be true that all is fair in love and war, but I don’t think that’s the case in fashion. We females get all of the cool stuff. I am all for people doing their own thing, being creative and borrowing from the opposite sex, but there are a few hot fashion trends for fall 2012 are actually very gender-friendly to both men and women. One of these trends is wearing faux fur.
As the years go by, you guys seem to be getting more and more interested in fashion and being in style, and I think it’s great. I love faux fur, so I think it’s pretty cool to see men wearing it, too. Besides, it actually could be considered quite masculine; I mean, fur was the clothing of choice for cavemen once upon a time. So there you go.
Seriously, though, a man wearing faux fur is also part of the vintage, gentleman, or dandy trend that has been going on for a while now and will
continue through the year. If you have any doubts or questions, take a look at Prada’s Fall 2012 ads featuring a few very cool male actors.
If you work this trend in moderation and/or live in an extremely cold climate, you definitely will easily pull this look off. Fashion warning: A full-on faux fur coat may not be for the average Joe, but he definitely can add a few fur accessories without looking like Grizzly Adams or an escapee from the cast of Doctor Zhivago. Here are a few ideas to work this trend into your winter wardrobe:
- A faux fur Trapper hat (think Elmer Fudd).
- A fur collar or muffler.
- A pair of fur lined or cuffed gloves.
- Fur earmuffs.
- Fur lining in your coat or jacket.
With the exception of the typically villainous guys in the Prada pack with money to burn, if you’re going to work this trend, you might want to stick to natural colors like brown, black, or tan to get more wear out of them.
