How About Some Hawaiian Punch?

in category of Fashion, Tracey Vest

If you can’t run off for a tropical vacation, why not opt for the next best thing: dressing like you are running off for a tropical vacation. The sun is finally up and shinning on a regular basis so it’s time to start wearing some “official” warm weather clothes. When I say “official” warm weather clothing, I am talking about over-the-top bright tropical printed clothing, shoes, and accessories.

Tropical and flowered print clothing is typically worn on exotic vacations or when you want to be a bit campy, but this year tropical colorful prints are an official fashion trend. If big name designers like Stella McCartney, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana have clothes with wild fruity tropical prints in their summer lines, then calling it a trend sure works for me.

This year, you don’t have to run off to the tropics on vacation to pull off wearing brightly colored and fruit-themed clothing. Wearing Hawaiian or tropical clothing is often considered kitschy, but this year you will be considered a high fashion forward and ultra-chic fashionista. Although the tropical look has been cornered by several high fashion designers, you don’t have to worry if you don’t have a high fashion budget. We frugal fashionistas will have plenty to choose from, because several affordable labels and designers also have this trend included in their lines.

If you’re going to do some copycat looks, be sure to take note of the designer prints and follow their cues for a high-end look. But this trend is meant to be fun, so don’t pass on a vintage find or a great hand-me-down to create this look. Full-on garments may be a bit overwhelming, so you might want to opt for accessories like shoes, handbags, ties, and fun jewelry. But if you’re in love with this trend, go for it. And don’t forget to add this print into the mix when you’re mixing your prints.

This trend may not be for everyone, but it’s practically a fashion tradition for this print to make an appearance during the summer. Even if you like to keep a low profile with your wardrobe, don’t let being shy keep you from giving this trend a try. I suggest both men and women at least add one or two separates, like a shirt or a pair of shorts.
