It’s Midway to Mother’s Day: Very Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts

There is nothing like waiting until the last minute to add some extra excitement to your shopping trip. I have been down that road many times, and it can be exciting and frustrating. Normally I like to get a head start when looking for a special gift, but hey, things happen. If you’re in the midst of a little bit of a crisis because you’re still looking for a gift for the mom in your life, consider a piece of jewelry as an option.

A true fashionista can never have too many accessories, and jewelry is no exception. Jewelry makes a nice gift because it’s usually an easy fit and very rarely seasonal.

Now, there are two ways to go with the idea of jewelry; you can opt for something similar to what your mom already wears, or you can go with getting your mom something you know she will absolutely love but would not buy for herself. My suggestion is that you opt for going with something your mom might not buy for herself to make the gift just a bit more special. This can also be an opportunity to get your favorite mom to add a little more oomph to her wardrobe or to try something new.

Here are a few jewelry ideas that are current fashion trends; you can use them if you’re going for the real thing or fun faux.

For necklaces and earrings, consider traditional pearls, or try something nontraditional in colors or accented with stones or unusual metals like rose gold.

Another idea is an oversized statement necklace or pendant that has an ethnic flavor.

For your ultra-feminine mom, chose a piece of jewelry with flowers or cameos. If you decide to give her a pair of earrings, try a pair of this season’s drop earrings in an oversized, interesting shape or pretty gemstone. If your mom is a bit more hip and fashion-conscious, try an unusual, but pretty pair of earrings with tassels or feathers for embellishment.
