Ladies Do Wear Leather

We are all on a budget these days, so it’s always a plus when you can do some fashion multitasking and work more than one trend at the same time. Two hot fall trends – ladylike dresses and leather – have joined together to create leather and leather-accented dresses that are perfect for taking you out on the town and off to the workplace in chic style.

I’m excited that the industry is making successful efforts to make leather more garment-friendly, season-less, and less formal. If you’re a fashionista who is lucky to work the fashion industry, you will be able to pull off a leather dress at the office, but for other industries it may be a bit trickier.

Full-on leather garments have come a long way from black-only vests, miniskirts, and tight pants, but even in other colors they can still be a bit edgy for the office and other conservative places. This fall, there is a parade of leather and leather accented dresses coming down the runway to let you work these two stylish trends at your 9 to 5 and any place else a nice dress is appropriate for.

If you have been thinking about adding some or simply more leather to your fall wardrobe this is a perfect way to do it. Leather shirts, skirts, and pants are also majorly hot fashion items for this season, so if you have been hesitant to commit to leather, a leather dress is a good choice to get a taste of this trend. By simply adding another top, blazer, or sweater, you have a skirt; adding a full skirt over a slim-cut leather dress gives you a leather top.

What is really nice about this trend is every dress style you can imagine is available. If you don’t want to go full-on leather, look for leather accents at the hem, yoke, and sleeves. Keep an eye out for more unusual fabric and leather combinations, like tweed, wool, and jersey.

You can go retro with shifts and pencil-skirted dresses, or contemporary with minis and below-the-knee lengths. By changing up your accessories, shoes and boots you can take easily take these dresses from the workplace to out on the town in seconds flat. This is definitely a trend to try now, and it will be perfect for entertaining or attending parties during the coming holidays.
