A Leather for All Kinds of Weather

If you didn’t jump on the leather bandwagon over the summer, it’s an absolute must-do for fall 2012. In addition to being a fan of leather starting to be worn all year long, I also love the idea of leather being worn more for casual occasions and not just for special events or as outerwear. Just about every designer and line has included leather this season, so feel free to consider leather if you usually pass on it.

For the past couple of seasons, it’s become very common for stylists to use leather garments in fashion magazine layouts, and the outfits can easily be translated by an everyday fashionista. For example, leather shirts and leather jeans are being worn just to hang out in as often as a denim shirt and jeans.

In case I am not alone in my leather obsession, I recently discovered a very cool line of leather clothing, Veda, by Lyndsey Butler.

Veda is referred to on its website as “a collection dedicated to leather and all its possibilities,” and “the answer to the search for the perfect leather jacket.”

Veda’s range of leather garments and accessories has a distinctive look, but they vary in style. The line includes your typical leather jackets, vests, and pants, and new ideas for leather, like shorts and roomy tunics with zippers and hoods. Veda is Lyndsey Butlers’ first venture; it launched in the spring of 2008.

The designer grew up in between Argentina and Texas. Early on she worked in New York City and later ended up in Hollywood, California. Currently she has offices on both the east and west coast. Her site states that, “All of the stops along her journey helped to create her unique style, which has been referred to as a ‘hip, urbane interpretation of her North and South American cowgirl roots.’”

I think the line is a little pricey, but the quality and uniqueness seems to match its price tags. The designs are contemporary and seem to be geared to a younger fashionista, but I think it’s worth it for fashinistas of all ages to at least check it out. Just about every current trend is represented in her line, along with a few signature looks. The line is perfect for fall 2012, and you could easily wear most of the pieces for many years to come
