Let Your Boots Slouch
One or two pairs of fabulousboots are a footwear must during the fall. There are lots of options, so choosing may be difficult, but one style to check out is the slouched boot.
A slouched boot has a look of its own, but it’s similar to a boot with ankle embellishment in that it can be like having “two pairs for the price of one.” What I mean is this boot looks plain or like a pair of shoes when you wear them with longer skirts and pants, but it looks like a really cool boot when fully exposed. There is one slight difference from a boot with an added embellishment, the fact the slouch is often in the same textile as the entire boot. One plus is this may make it easier to match with other accessories or styles of clothing and outerwear.
You can choose from wedges, stilettos, platforms, and for those of you who put comfort first, there is an array of flat styles. I should warn you though,
because both pointed and round toes are in style this year, you will have to decide which you like better (if you don’t get both). But the upside is both will blend in with most of the fashion trends that we are seeing for clothes and outerwear. I tend to lean towards pointed toes and think they give boots a sleeker, more European look, but a round toe may have the comfort factor you’re looking for and can give boots a fun, casual look.
There’s more to worry about than just the heel, though. Along with the slouch itself, there are embellishments like buckles, zippers, cuffs, and ties to choose from, in addition to all of the gorgeous colors, textiles, and lengths.
Black or brown are always a good choice, but consider a soft gray, buttery tan, this season’s very popular burgundy, or settle the dilemma with a two-toned boot. Most of the styles can take on the look of your outfit, but several of these boots have their own personality, flavor, and style that you can build an outfit around, like western and pirate for a fun look.
If you’re typically an Ugg fan, you may find yourself jumping ship this year. Along with comfy, cozy Ugg- like looking boots, you will find other boot styles with chic detailing, like peep toes, ankle boots, sleek classic ’70s styles, western, and even sexy, thigh-high boots.
