Li-Lo in Leopard
Just Jared posted a picture of Lindsay Lohan while she was filming for the upcoming “Liz and Dick” on a yacht in Marina Del Rey, California. Lindsay Lohan is hardly one of my style inspirations, and she has had her share of fashion don’ts, but this swimsuit is a definite do. The style of the suit is a little overly modest, especially for Lindsay, but the print and retro flavor is right on time. I guess it doesn’t matter that this fashion do is courtesy of her movie’s wardrobe department. Just in case you’re still shopping for your summer 2012 swimsuit and you can’t decide on what color or what style you want to go with this year, consider getting a leopard print in one of this season’s retro suits.
It’s still up to you to decide on what style to go with, but it’s an easier task to choose what fits rather than choose from all of the colors and prints that are available. So once you know what works for you, half the battle is won and you can move onto color or print. You can go either way to work the retro vibe we are seeing in swimwear. You don’t have to go as modest as the suit Lindsay is sporting, but this season, showing less skin is definitely in. Both one and two-piece suits have more fabric and more generous cuts to emphasize the look of vintage pin-up gals.
Leopard is one of my all-time favorite prints, so needless to say, I give leopard swimsuits the thumbs up, This timeless print works for just about any fashionista no matter what her age, shape, and size. Unless you’re a neon and bright colors fan, leopard is a pretty smart choice. It’s a print, the colors are neutral, and it won’t look dated even if you choose to wear it next year. You can probably find a leopard in a neon color, but it might lose the charm of the print.
In addition to leopard print being timeless, it can be sexy, sophisticated, and fun. If you’re a retro fan, this print could work for you in a
contemporary cut simply because the print has history in fashion…or you can go one step further with a really retro-style bikini or one-piece. This is particular trend is a one size fits all. Fashionistas of all ages and all body types, including pregnant fashionistas, can wear this trend.
You can still go bright or with another print for a cover-up and work the mixing print trend, but I think there is no such thing as too much leopard. Think about adding a leopard cover-up to complete your look, and it can double as a dress, tunic, or mini.
