Your lifestyle, your quirk
There really are no rules when it comes to fashion, but for those of you who still go old school when putting together an outfit, check out the new shoe line from the design duo behind Rodarte – Kate and Laura Mulleavy.
Fans of the Mulleavy sisters may be hearing old news and already considering a purchase. For those of you who are not already familiar with this line, listen up: if you like to keep things in the family when you create outfits, this is a line you may want to check out.
The new Rodarte shoes have fabulous beaded embroidery, canvas cutouts, and lace-up fastening, and several styles have heels with very exciting decorations on the heel. To quote the folks at refinery29.com, “Those Plexiglas shoes were filled with colored sand (just like the bottle art you made in grade school).”
This fabulous footwear must have made it a no-brainer when it came to what the models should wear on their feet for Rodarte shows. I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but the mini sand designs seem very similar to and almost mimic several of the prints on the fabrics of their clothing items and accessories. This is a fun twist on the idea of matching your footwear to your outfit.
If this line is out of your price range, just know that I feel your pain. But cheer up, dry your eyes, and let’s make a little lemonade. Use this very cool line for some style inspiration when you’re matching (or rather, not matching) your footwear and your outfit. One idea is when you’re out shopping or simply shopping your own closet is to look for shoes with prints that mimic some of your garments and vice versa. You can also carry this theme on with boots.
