Your lifestyle, your quirk
There is a whole lot of color going on in the fashion world, with all of the bright colors and prints we are seeing coming down the runway. Although bright colors and eye-catching prints are hot, hot fashion trends for warm weather, don’t forget all of the pretty pastels colors to choose from. I normally prefer neutrals, darker colors, and darker prints, even in the summertime, but this year I am having a change of heart. I always admire these pretty colors when I see others wearing them, so this year I plan to add a few lighter-colored items to my wardrobe. Pretty pastels are stylish options for clothes and accessories. They seem to have a soothing and cooling effect, so these colors will be perfect for your warm weather wardrobe. If you’re already a fan of lighter and softer colors, you are in luck; if not, you may soon be. For dresses, you have several options; consider a pretty, ’80s-inspired blousy mini dress with one shoulder, or a sheer chiffon romantic maxi dress to channel the ’70s.
Another option to add to your wardrobe could be a pretty cashmere sweater in a soft color like baby pink, pale yellow, or lilac to pair with a blouse and skirt. This ensemble would be perfect to work several retro trends, depending on your accessories and shoes. You could also consider a pretty tiered or pleated skirt in any length. Accessories are always a great option to try out a color trend, especially if you’re normally not a fan of pastels but want to give them a whirl. Work several pretty pastel colors into your wardrobe with a pashima or perhaps a chiffon scarf. Another idea is a few pieces of statement jewelry in pretty pastel colors. Don’t forget shoes; this pastel color trend goes on right onto shoes, and your options are endless. Just don’t think these shoes are not practical. A pair of nude pumps or wedges can walk as many miles as a pair in black and look just as great. Look for all of these pretty pales and pastels for other trends, too, like color blocking, prints, and two-tones in just about any and every shoe style. The upside for this trend is that it's both pretty and appropriate for the season, but the downside for petites is that light colors tend to visually add bulk. Don’t pass on this trend just yet, though; you can easily remedy this by balancing out your top and bottom garments or simply sticking with accessories.
