Puff the Magic: Jacket or Coat

Hopefully you don’t need a puffy quilted down coat right now, but if you plan on adding one of these cold busting coats to your wardrobe you need get to doing some shopping. A quilted down coat can definitely be categorized under heavy artillery for fighting off cold weather. I usually opt or a menswear styled wool coat, but this year I may need a back up. Normally I worry that one of these cloud-like coats will visually add a few unwanted inches to my frame, but after seeing a few of the styles available I may give in. Some of these styles are on the verge of high fashion and of course there is always the color black. You also only had the choice of fabrics, now leather is being tossed into the mix.  These coats were puffy long before the term had anything to do with cool.  This season your options are so stylish and there is so much detailing on cuffs, hems and at the neckline they will definitely be giving other coat textiles and fabrications a run for their money.  Would Rhianna wear something that wasn’t stylish and cool?  Of course she was wearing Balmain, but there is something for every fashionista’s budget. [left_image link="http://shopforclothes.com/buy-Quilted-Fur-Collar-Jacket.html"]http://www.stylequirk.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/fur-puff-jacket.jpg[/left_image] You can go just about any length with this style of coat; there are stylish options that run from long to short.  If you’re a traditionalist you can always find the basic boxy shape in all lengths but this season look for ruche detailing, pleats gathers and ruffles with or without faux fur embellishments.  There are even asymmetric cuts and openings a la 80’s.  As far as fabrics you can go old school with nylon and black but check out bright colors, leather or perhaps something with a little metallic glitter and shine to it.
