Rompers Aren’t Just for Babies Anymore
Warm weather is usually all about showing lots of skin. Bare tops, shorts, and sundresses are the usual bill of fashion fare when the temperature rises, and this year is no exception. One trend that is gaining popularity as things heat up in the fashion world is the romper.
Relax, this is not the romper that you remember from junior high or any other traumatic fashion period in your life. The grown-up version is adorable, but can also be sexy, stylish, and very chic. Rompers with high fashion flair are showing up in quite a few lines for spring/summer 2012. With and without delicate feminine straps and other detailing, and in a rainbow of colors, these fashionable pieces have a cute and casual feeling but are also very grown-up.
Now, like a lot of hot trends, a romper may not be for everyone, but it’s not as difficult to pull off as you might think. "Little girls" of any age should be able to pull this look off without a hitch; the trick is to pick one that is age and body type-appropriate. There is quite an array of styles and colors, so finding one that works for you should not be too difficult.
I highly suggest choosing a pretty color or print for days and saving basic black for night. Black is always perfect for a sexy evening look, and it takes this casual item up a notch. With a pair of fabulous shoes or sandals and equally fabulous accessories, you could easily wear one of these rompers to a semi-formal event.
One of these darling one-piece garments also makes a perfect bathing suit cover-up and/or comfortable outfit to hang out or run errands in.
For footwear, just about any warm weather shoe will do, depending on the overall look you’re going for. This season’s cage shoe would be perfect, especially if your legs are your best feature.
For the fashionista that has a case of terminal cuteness, try a romper in white linen or a madras print with flats or a simple pair of sneakers. The more daring and sophisticated fashionista hitting the nightlife should try a romper embellished with sequins, lace, or embroidery for a fun alternative to your usual cocktail dress. You can go long with this trend in the form of a jumpsuit and work a bit of retro disco glam, but stick with short if you can to get the full effect.
