Scarves for Spring and Summer? Yes!

Just because the warmer weather is here doesn’t mean you have to skip wearing one of the most versatile accessories on the fashion scene. It is true that scarves are traditionally used to keep a fashionista warm during the cold winter months, but for warm weather, lightweight, attractive scarves are a must-have fashion item for both men and women. The warm weather scarf is one of the hot trends this season for several reasons. Along with the chic, very European look, a lightweight summer scarf can be just as functional as it is fashionable. If you’re adamant about ditching a sweater for the warm weather, a scarf is perfect for warding off the chill of too much air conditioning, or, God forbid, a sudden temperature drop, and it can act as an extra layer of sunscreen on or off the beach. In addition to simply looking fabulous, a lightweight summer scarf is a great way to take a break from this season’s trendy neckwear. One of my favorite looks is a tank top with a cool scarf tied around the neck. It looks a bit odd if you think about it for practical purposes, but that’s one of the cool things about fashion.

If you’re curious about trying out one of this season’s hot colors or prints, a scarf is a perfect way to try out a color you have been curious about, or to add a bit of color and pizzazz to draw attention to your face. You can simply wear this trend tossed carelessly around your neck, but if you let your imagination run wild or copy a few fashion ideas, there are countless ways to wear a summer scarf. Try these simple ideas, or come up with a few of your own. Try wrapping your summer scarf multiple times around your neck and tucking the edges under, or folding a scarf in half behind your head and looping the open ends though the hole near your collarbone. There are diagrams on the internet and tutorial videos on YouTube to check out, or just hit up your favorite boutique and ask the sales people for a few tips. Don't be afraid to experiment: Twist, braid, knot two together, or try tying a last-minute halter top or belt. Add pins and brooches for extra pizzazz, or to simply secure your creation. You definitely will have no problem finding one, two, or three of these hot items to add to your summer wardrobe. Once you start shopping, you will find the color choices, prints, and fabrications are endless.
