Shopping Tips

I went shopping at a huge mall in Pensacola the other week (and got some really cute stuff), and it was a really enjoyable trip. I went with a younger cousin of mine, but we’re both pretty laid-back shoppers, and we both roll with the flow. The mall also had a really clean food court, which is unusual for indoor malls, so I was impressed!

We all can get a little shop-happy, though. Sometimes, you can go a little overboard and spend too much money. If you keep your head and remember a few key points, it’s easy to save money and stay within your budget. Keep reading for my personal tips on making your next shopping trip the best!

  1. If you can make it, skip it – I went into Express today and they were having an amazing sale! I picked up a couple of t-shirts that were about six dollars, but they were these dip-dye ombre shirts. They were extremely cute, but I could’ve made them myself. If you want to make one yourself, grab a bucket, some water, and some dye. Dip half of the shirt in the dye, and voila! Six bucks saved. Plus, making things for yourself feels amazing! If you can find a DIY way to do it, go ahead!
  2. Get jewelry for discount prices – Places like Forever21 and Charlotte Russe have cute jewelry for less – and it looks like what you’d find in a more expensive store! If you’re on a budget, purchase clothing at the most expensive stores on your list, and save your jewelry shopping for discount stores.
  3. Wait for the sales – If you love shopping at stores like Express and Modcloth, but are on a Forever21 budget (like me!), it can be hard to have the things you want and still have the cash you need for other things, too. However, waiting for a sale to roll around is a great way to get really good deals on quality clothes. For example: I love Victoria’s Secret, but their bras and panties are really expensive! So I usually wait until the semi-annual sale to stock up. In the meantime, I buy pieces from less expensive stores. It’s a great way to get what you want and get quality pieces as well.

Shopping is a temptation for all of us, and sometimes we go a little overboard. But if you follow the above tips, you should be able to save a lot of money! I sincerely hope you’re able to purchase the things you want, so you can feel great about yourself.
