The bride whisperer, Vera Wang, has tossed her hat into the fashion ring once again, but this time it has nothing to do with weddings. The queen of all things bridal has teamed up once again with the retailer Kohl’s just in time to take young fashionistas back to school in Vera Wang style…Vera Wang Princess style, that is.

The recently launched clothing and accessories line, Princess by Vera Wang, asks the question, “Were you born to rule?” The introduction to the collection that is on the main page gives a little junior version, if you will, of Vera Wang’s fashion philosophy. It basically proclaims its mission statement is “To help make all young women feel fabulous.” Now, I am a good number of years from being age-appropriate for this line, but I am such a fan of Vera Wang that when I read “Were you born to rule?” even I wanted to shout, “Yes!”

The line is Vera Wang’s second collection with Kohl’s and follows on the heels of the perfume that shares the same name. I don’t wear and need to avoid perfume, but if I wore it and Vera was around in my teens, I would have checked it out for sure.

The merchandise includes clothing, shoes, accessories, and jewelry, and it’s not textbook Vera by her adult woman fashion standards, but you can see the same ultra-feminine touches and pretty embellishments that say Vera Wang throughout the line.

I doubt anything from this line will make it to my wardrobe, but it’s not an unrealistic thought that older fashionistas might find one or two pieces that they could successfully pull off. There are a pair of silver cowboy boots that have my name all over them, but I will leave those size 8s for some other young fashionista with a thing for funky shoes.

Vera Wang is one of my favorites, and I have no doubt this line will be a success with her target market. I am not entirely crazy about the whole princess thing, but I have to give the designer major props. I find it very refreshing that while most of the items are right on trend with what’s going on in fashion, including some of what is coming down the catwalks, it still has a wholesome vibe to it that seems to have disappeared from most other junior lines.

I would have no problem if I had a teenage fashionista and she left the house wearing anything from Princess from Vera Wang. After all, it’s Vera Wang for goodness sake!
