Spidey’s Squeeze Has Stylish Socks
Peter Parker, Spiderman’s Andrew Garfield, isn’t the only one working a cool fashion trend on film. Gwen Stacy, Emma Stone’s character in the latest Spiderman is also bringing a bit of film to fashion and vice versa this season. In fact her character, along with Spiderman of course, is already popping up as a Halloween costume idea. One key garment for her look is a pair of over the knee socks.
I hope you don’t consider this a spoiler, but Spidey’s main squeeze is giving this already hot hosiery trend a major shout out on film. I actually had a hard time finding movie stills, but several fellow bloggers, pinners and posters have recreated looks that include this hot item.
Over the knee socks were already coming down the runways and being worn by lots of celebrity fashionistas but I think their being a part of such a
popular character and movie is what will push them over the edge. In the movie Gwen wears several pairs of this cool hosiery.
The thigh highs go perfectly with her boots and her whole geek chic looks. Gwen, or Emma Stone, manages to make even a lab coat stylish. I love the whole idea of the smart, quirky and sexy female character, and think it was done well. Her look stays the same there is no transformation like whipping off her glasses and letting down her hair.
This trend can be a bit intimidating or tricky to wear. My favorite is black, but they can have a very high fashion, edgy or punk rocker vibe to them. It may take a bit of getting used to if that’s not your usual style, but don’t shy away from this look though, I think it’s too cool to pass on. You can make this trend your own and extreme as you like, depending on the rest of your outfit, accessories and makeup.
If you’re not feeling black this trend is showing up in just about every other hosiery option. The outfit ideas and lighter color choices from the movie could easily work for the everyday in real life. This style of hosiery is also a nice change from traditional tights and socks. They can also be worn with them later down the road for fun fashion color contrast and of course warmth.
If you’re still feeling timid one sneaky way to try on this trend for size is to go as Gwen Stacy for Halloween. But I have a feeling you will see this is a fashion trend that just can’t wait.
