T-Shirt Extravaganza

A basic cotton t-shirt, especially a white one, is a timeless wardrobe staple for both men and women and can be worn just about any time of the year. They are hardly the most glamorous items, but even the most fashion-forward fashionista owns at least one or two t-shirts. The cotton crew neck t-shirt will always be wardrobe item, but the t-shirt has come a long way from basic, black, white, and gray.

For Fall 2012, t-shirts are working just about every hot fashion trend. They are still great for layering of all sorts, but t-shirts also go with the many stylish bottoms we are seeing. If basic black, white, or gray in cotton isn’t your choice, you have options galore. Every color of the rainbow is available, and the same goes for textile options, prints, and embellishments.

Even folks with money to spend on their wardrobe are becoming more concerned with making the most of what they have in their closet. One of the best ways to stretch your clothing budget is to figure out how to get your garments to work overtime by handling different occasions.

You just can’t beat a comfortable, great-fitting t-shirt, and these days, a t-shirt in white or any other basic color can now go to work under a suit, a sweater, or worn just for extra warmth. Some lucky folks can even wear them to work. Now that t-shirts are available in an endless variety of options, they can go just about anywhere else most other tops would go. A brand new t-shirt or one that is well worn can be paired with anything from jeans to a fancy skirt or trousers.

Whether you choose a basic t-shirt or one of this season’s interesting options, a t-shirt is a great addition to your wardrobe. Obviously a t-shirt in a specialty fabric or one with embellishments can be treated like any other top, but here are several outfit ideas for taking a plain t-shirt places other than the gym.

1. Try a basic t-shirt under a patterned or solid tank, or even a sexy bustier or camisole.

2. Pair a basic t-shirt with a fancy or decorative embellished skirt, perhaps beaded or with sequins.

3. Wear a plain or specialty fabric t-shirt with a great pair of trousers or jeans on casual Friday.

4. Take a warm weather dress into fall with a basic t-shirt underneath or one of this season’s other textiles over it.
