Alec Baldwin Can’t…Stop….Tweeting.

Alec Baldwin quit Twitter. For two days. Apparently fed up with the invasiveness of paparazzi and the trouble he tends to get into by not being able to keep his mouth shut, or his fingers from tweeting, Alec gave up and told his Twitter fans he was done.

“It’s been fun,” the 54-year-old actor tweeted just before deleting his account on Tuesday, July 2.

Two days later, Alec was back. He is just tweeting from his ABS Foundation’s account instead.

Alec announced his return on the Fourth of July to the ABS Foundation’s 930,000 followers by posting a picture of his feet and the caption, “Our forefathers fought for our right to nap on the beach.”

Alec also tweeted, "It's a waste of time 2 prove how bad things are. Instead, put your thoughts, passion, energy and efforts in2 making things better.” Perhaps the tweet was in reference to his abrupt departure from the Twitterverse two days prior?

Alec is a well-known tweeter, so what possessed him to quit altogether (albeit temporarily) and delete his entire account? Alec had announced recently that he planned to step out of the limelight once 30 Rock ends, so two days after getting married to Hilaria Thomas and into the last season of the television show, this seemed like a logical time to cut out the shorthand social network.

I’m sure it didn’t hurt that the media blew his interaction with a paparazzo completely out of proportion, making Alec look like a total a-hole with an anger management problem. Although many reports claimed Alec attacked the photographer for The Daily News for no reason, Alec went on CBS This Morning that day after the “attack” to explain his side of the story.

First, Alec clarified, he did not throw a single punch – he merely pushed the photographer – and only after being provoked. As Alec was leaving the courthouse after obtaining his marriage license, he said the photographer charged up to him and “almost hit me in the teeth with the lens of his camera.”

Alec also explained that the same photographer had previously been camped outside of Alec’s apartment.

"People think I'm out there just decking photographers willy-nilly, nothing could be further from the truth," Baldwin said.

A photographer for a different publication who witnessed the entire interaction to the side of the photographer, however, and said Alec started the altercation.

It should also be noted that this was the not the first time Alec left Twitter (again, only temporarily) in dramatic fashion. He left in December of 2011 after being escorted off an American Airlines flights for refusing to stop playing Words with Friends.
