One aspiring young singer’s dreams are about to come true, thanks to Justin Bieber and his famous friends goofing around. Unlikely story, right? Well, for 24-year-old Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen, it’s true. The Biebs, his girlfriend Selena Gomez, and their famous thespian friends Ashley Tisdale, Martin Johnson, Sammy Droke, Mateo Arias, Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena, created a homemade video of them all dancing around and lip synching to Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe.” Pena uploaded the video to his YouTube account, and it has already seen more than three million hits.
Although the actual video for “Call Me Maybe” has also seen 3+ million hits, it is already trailing behind Bieber and Gomez’s version, which features them and their friends bouncing around different rooms in a house frequently sporting fake mustaches. There is even a near-smooch between Bieber and Gomez, which would have driven fans crazy, but Tisdale playfully interrupts, pushing them apart.
This video isn’t the first Bieber has posted personally promoting the song. In January, he tweeted a video of himself rocking out to the song on a private jet with his former swagger coach Ryan Good and Good’s girlfriend Ashley Benson.
Gomez also gave Jepsen’s song some love on Twitter last month when she tweeted a picture of Bieber smiling and wrote, "This smile is because of Carly Rae Jepsen.. We have not stopped listening your song girl!"
Bieber has been given credit for discovering Jepsen. He first heard her song on a Canadian radio station and loved it, so he talked his manager, Scooter Braun, into signing her onto his label, Schoolboy Records. Who can say no to the Biebs?
Bieber is famous for getting his start from a homemade YouTube video, so perhaps he is returning the favor and helping the next big star make her name known through the digital airwaves.
