Does Kelsey Grammar Thinks A Hip Tattoo Will Make Him Hip?

Generally, we are in favor of sweet, romantic displays of love, but when it involves a 57-year-old man getting a tattoo on his hip, it’s a little more “Ummmm…ew” than “Awwwww, cute!” Cough, cough, Kelsey Grammar, cough. Yes, it’s true. The aging Frasier star had decided to prove his love AND spark rumors of a (late) mid-life crisis in a single move. One of the artists at the tattoo parlor tweeted a picture of Grammar on the table mid-tattoo session at the Chicago-based Insight Studios this past weekend. The actor reportedly specifically requested tattoo artist James Eastwood, 23, to tattoo the name of Grammar’s fourth wife, Kayte Walsh, on his right hip. The tattoo was done in blue ink and is about half an inch tall.

“He’s the only famous person I’ve ever tattooed,” Eastwood said. “He’s a pretty down-to-earth dude.” The owner of the shop, Bob Jones, spoke personally with Grammar. “He was pretty cool about it,” Jones said. “He said it was his first tattoo and he did some research and said, ‘You guys seemed to be the best place to go.’” While waiting for his turn, Grammar and his wife chatted with tattoo artist Eastwood’s 72-year-old grandmother, Christine Darbo, who was accompanying a friend planning to get a tattoo (apparently, it is becoming a trend with the elderly?). “They were just normal people. We were talking about tattoos,” Darbo told The Chicago Sun-Times. “He said, ‘I’m going to get Kayte’s name.’ My friend asked, ‘So how long have you been dating that he wanted to tattoo your name?’ She said, ‘We are married.’ I figured with his background he should just put a ‘K’ with a period to give him some flexibility.” The candid granny continued, sharing her impression of Walsh. “She was pretty, but not gorgeous, in your face ... They were fun. Very friendly and into each other. They were just talking and enjoying each other.” Darbo shared that she saw Grammar leaving the shop after receiving his tattoo and asked him if she could see his first ink. She said the actor replied with, “You know, next time.” Grammar and Walsh married in February of 2011 and announced this January while at the Golden Globes that they are expecting twins. Grammar is already a father to four children, but these will be the first children for Walsh.
