Does Russell Brand Regret Divorce From Katy Perry?

It’s hard to feel sorry for people when they bring situations upon themselves, but I may be experiencing a small twinge of sympathy for British comedian and actor Russell Brand if the latest rumor is true. According to the gossip chain, Brand is missing his ex-wife, singer Katy Perry, something fierce, and wholeheartedly regrets their divorce.

The old adage “You don’t know what you’ve got until you’ve lost it,” seems to be ringing true for Russell, 36, who is reportedly “seething with jealousy” over the pictures of Perry displaying some PDA with her new boyfriend Robert Ackroyd, the guitarist for Florence + the Machine.

The new couple was confirmed as a pair after their displays of affection at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last month. The 27-year-old singer looked radiant in her new purple-hued hair, worn down and in long large curls throughout the festival. Multiple paparazzi pictures showed her and Ackroyd doing everything from holding hands to holding each other while listening to music, then full-on making out not seeming to care who saw.

It has been reported from a source claiming to be close to Brand that after seeing the pictures, Brand put his tail between his legs and sent his ex a long email, admitting he “gave up” on their marriage too soon and the divorce was a “mistake.” Apparently, the email even asked for another chance to prove his love for her.

“It's fair to say that Russell only wishes Katy happiness, but perhaps he should have realized just how special his wife was when he was married to her rather than five months later,” the Brand source stated.

Russell was the one who filed for divorce on December 30, 2011, 14 months into their marriage. Russell cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends,” Brand said at the time in a written statement released to People magazine.

The two dated for four months before getting engaged, and then married in a lavish, star-studded ceremony in India.

Brand was the first to move on after the big divorce announcement, making headlines with his steamy, fast-moving romance with 25-year-old Spanish artist Oriela Medellin Amieiro. It looks like it may have just been a rebound, though, if the rumors about Brand’s email to Perry have any truth to them. 

We are definitely interested to see what will happen between the two, as Perry tweeted an intriguing quote from Forrest Gump on Monday: 

“Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far, far, far away from here.”

One must wonder if a certain email sparked those feelings of confusion?
