Drew Barrymore Planning June Wedding
We’re getting as excited for Drew Barrymore’s big day (both of them) as she must be! The 37-year-old cutie has a lot going on right now – she is engaged and expecting her first child, rumored to be a girl.
Barrymore started dating Will Kopelman, a 34-year-old art consultant, in early 2011. They became engaged over the holidays after Kopelman presented Barrymore with an impressive 4-carat diamond engagement ring.
The wedding is scheduled for June 2 and will take place at Barrymore’s estate in Montecito, California. It will reportedly be a small and private affair. Kopelman’s family rabbi will be conducting the ceremony.
Barrymore will look beautiful with her still-small baby bump covered in a gorgeous Chanel wedding dress. Her fiancé’s father, Arie Kopelman, coincidentally is the former CEO of Chanel, so we’re assuming there was a family discount involved…
“She wants to get married before her [baby] bump gets too big, but it’s important to her to marry before she gives birth,” a source told E! News. “Drew and Will have spent a lot of time talking to his family about ways to make the ceremony special.”
“She wants it to be very personal and intimate. She wants to do it right and be surrounded by family and friends,” a source close to the actress told E! News.
“Will is such an incredible man for her,” the source continued. “They adore [each other] and are always together. He’s a good guy and he’s going to be a great father.”
Planning a wedding is certainly a lot of work, but Barrymore has a bit of experience on her side. This will be her third marriage. Although, to her credit, this is likely what she considers her first “real” marriage, considering both of her previous ones were so short. Barrymore’s first husband, bar owner Jeremy Thomas, lasted only 19 days. Her second marriage, to comedian-actor Tom Green, lasted only a few months. Barrymore came dangerously close to marrying Green on Saturday Night Live (which probably should have been her first clue that the relationship may not be serious enough to warrant marriage), but backed out at the last moment, only to elope with Green soon after.
Let’s hope the stress of planning a wedding is not too much for the expecting mama, but with Barrymore’s notoriously happy demeanor, we’re guessing she’ll handle it all with ease and a smile.
