Happy Birthday, Adele!

in category of Gossip

Hey, mean old Karl Lagerfeld, I think you should summon your minions, gas up a truck, and send over some more fabulous handbags for Adele’s birthday. The birthday girl may not have needed any more “please accept my apology for my stupid remark” handbags, but hey, a girl can never have too many fabulous things.

You can read about that here after we wish Adele a happy birthday:  nypost.com

English recording artist and songwriter Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, better known to her adoring public as Adele, was born in Tottenham, North London, England, on 5 May 1988.

Adele was born to a single teenage mother. Adele’ s father left when she was three years old. According to Wikipedia, Adele is has said she still has not forgiven him. At the age of nine, Adele and her mother relocated to Brighton; at age 11 they went to Brixton, and then wound up in neighboring district West Norwood. West Norwood was the subject for Adele's first record, "Hometown Glory," written when she was 16. Anyone familiar with her songs knows that they are filled with emotion, and she isn’t shy about sharing her personal experiences and feelings with us.

Adele graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006. A classmate posted a three-song demo she recorded for a class project on MySpace that got quite a positive response from the public, and it led to a phone call from the music label XL. Adele doubted if the offer was real, because the only record company she knew was Virgin Records. She showed up anyway, but she took a friend with her to the meeting.

Maybe I am a bit out of the loop, but it almost appears as if Adele appeared on the music scene overnight. Still, she has had quite a journey. The fact she is an import may have a little to do with that. It wasn’t overnight, but it seems like her success just flowed, taking her to the career she knew she wanted when she was 14. I am definitely a fan; I bet she just laughed at Karl Lagerfeld’s petty comment, and then made room in her closet for her new handbags. I love that she says, “I’ve always liked being the center of attention.”

I think she is extremely talented, and her personality, honesty, and the fact she isn’t your typical pop tart makes her all the more endearing.
