How Scarlett Johansson Fit Into Her Avengers Catsuit
Sometimes we forget, but celebrities are not born flawless. They have to work at keeping their bodies healthy and in shape, as well as accentuate their unique beauty assets. Even Scarlett Johansson. I know, I know, it’s hard to believe that ScarJo is anything other than perfect rolling out of bed in the morning, but she insists she shares the same insecurities at any woman, and works hard to maintain her enviable shape.
That shape is what will likely sell half of the tickets to the 27-year-old hottie’s upcoming movie The Avengers, where she plays a character called Black Widow and dons a skintight black leather catsuit. Me-ow.
It took some work before Johansson felt confident enough to shimmy into that catsuit, however. Johansson was very honest about it in her interview this week with ITV1’s Daybreak morning show in the U.K.
"First of all, every woman has body worries. I'm not exempt from that, but beyond part of the by-product of spending that much time in the gym is that you can fit into a cat suit," Johansson said.
Of course, Johansson also paired her workout with a healthy-but-strict diet. “You have to eat a really clean diet, a lot of kale and salmon. Basically you get all your nutrients and then training like crazy,” she explained.
There are other physical attributes that resulted as well from her hardcore gym time and diet regiment. Johansson was able to do most of her own stunts in the action film.
She worked closely with her stunt double Heidi Moneymaker (that’s actually her name. How awesome is that?!), and said it involved “a lot of training and dedication.”
Johansson insisted the training was all worth it because, “It hurts and it hurts and then suddenly it doesn’t hurt and you’re getting it right and it’s a great moment – you feel like you’ve accomplished something big.”
We’re going to have to agree that not only looking awesome in a catsuit, but also still being able to move around in it is certainly a big accomplishment.
You can witness and appreciate Johansson’s hard work in theaters on May 4. The Avengers also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is also set to close this year’s Tribeca Film Festival on April 28.
