Your lifestyle, your quirk
I have to say it – Janet Jackson is looking good these days! The 46-year-old singer can currently be seen covering the July issue of Prevention magazine. Keeping with the motif of the magazine, Jackson spoke in her interview about her weight, working out, favorite foods, as well as her role as the face of the Nutrisystem diet.
First off, it must be said. Janet looks awesome on the magazine cover and in her photo shoot! The cover shot shows off her whittled-down waist, accented by tight dark jeans and a form-fitting bright red tank top. Inside the cover, Janet’s extremely toned arms are on full display in a simple and pretty sleeveless white dress.
How did the singer, who was noticeably overweight a few years ago, slim down and attain such a healthy look? She became the celebrity spokesperson for the popular Nutrisystem diet plan, and has been sticking to her healthy eating and exercise routine – even though some days are certainly harder than others.
“I don’t like to work out, and I get bored easily,” she feely admitted. “[My trainer] Tony Martinez is great. When I’m getting ready for a tour, I’ll work out with the dancers. He’ll put us in teams and we’ll do all sorts of drills and races.”
Janet also spoke about her weight gain, which reached its peak in 2005. “When I gained weight in 2005, my nutritionist was very worried,” Janet said. “I was close to having diabetes. Even when I lost it [and] then gained quite a bit back, there was always the thought of heart disease.”
Keeping her public struggles with weight in mind, she shared why she felt she was an appropriate choice to represent Nutrisystem to the world as well.
"I think people really connect with the idea of someone who's gained and lost weight in this very public way, and also someone who's an emotional eater. Chocolate, cake, caramel apples – there aren't many things I don't love."
Although Janet has lost the weight and seems to have her diet and exercise under control, she also acknowledged how easy it is for an actress to go overboard with either in Hollywood, and end up too thin and unhealthy.
“Knowing I have these problems with body image, I ask my friends and family to tell me when I’ve lost too much. Because I will continue to pick on myself like all other women do, and say, ‘You need to [lose] more here, more there.’”
All I can say is keep doing what you’re doing, Janet, because it’s working and you look wonderful and happy!
